Sofine Tech is a professional MIM solution provider, which was established in 1999. It could produce a large quantity of metal structural, functional and cosmetic parts in high precision, complex shape, good performance and delicate appearance. Besides, Sofine Gian now good at Iron and stainless steel materials, and have capable to ,magnetic ,ceramic and titanium alloy, to satisfy different customers' demand. Sofine Gian has more than 20 sets of mixing equipments, over 240 sets of injection devices, nearly 100 sets of debinding and sintering equipments, 7 sets of continuous sintering furnaces. Now, We can provide efficient and large batch MIM end-products on condition that promise a stable quality.
MIM (Metal Injection Molding) is a metal working process to creat complex metal part, containing four steps: compounding, injection, debinding and sintering.
Atomized metal powders are being compounded with a binder material to create a feedstock. The feedstock is processed by using injection molding. The molding process allows to produce complex parts in high volumes within tight tolerances as well as thin walls and excellent surfaces.
Pre-sales Assessment
Sofine Gian pre-sales team will work closely with you to assess the feasibility for MIM production in terms of cost, material, or manufacturing. Sofine Gian will also advise how to change design for achieving the best effect through Metal Injection Molding.
1.Feedstock
The Feedstock consists of fine metal powders with less than 25 Micrometer particle size which are mixed with thermoplastic and wax binders in special mixing equipment. The compounding is finished when the metal particles in the binder are fully homogenized. During the mixing process the mass is being heated. After the completion of the process the material is granulated into pellets while cooling down.
2.Injection Molding
The feedstock is fed into either our multi-slide Metal Injection Molding machinery or standard molding equipment, then heated and injected into a mold cavity under high pressure.
Our proprietary multi-slide tooling can produce extremely complex shapes and allow for shorter cycle times.
Once molded, the component is referred to as a “green part”.
Our multi-slide process routinely produces green parts in 3 seconds as opposed to 25-40 seconds on a standard MIM system.
Its geometry is identical to that of the finished piece, but to allow for shrinkage during the sintering phase, it’s about 20% larger in size than the finished component will be.
3.Debinding
Depending on the binder system debinding can be done catalytically, thermally or by solvent. The binder is hereby removed from the component except of a rest binder content of 2 to 3 percent. This backbone guarantees stability of the “brown part” for the subsequent process.
4.Sintering
In the last step the components are sintered at temperatures between 1200°C and 1400°C depending on the material. During this step the remaining binder is completely removed. During sintering the parts shrink isotropically to their desired dimensions. Sintered parts have densities of >97% and have thus similar characteristics to parts created using cutting technologies.
5.Post Processing
In some cases finishing operations are necessary. MIM parts can be heat treated as any other metal parts and they can also be further processed with any type of machining operations to achieve tolerances that are more precise. Sofine offers a broad range of post-processing technologies like cutting, hardening, laser technologies, surface technologies including assemblies.
